Hank Shocklee is one of the most important producers in our lifetime. 

The contributions that Hank Shocklee has given the music community is beyond ordinary men. As an inductee in both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Grammy Hall of Fame and founding member and producer of one of the greatest hip hop groups of all time, Public Enemy.

As part of the production team, the Bomb Squad, Mr Shocklee pushed the technology of sampling to the forefront in mainstream culture, utilizing innovative production techniques that created a multi layered and dense push and pull sound that you hear on the landmark album “It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back”, thus revolutionizing the entire way we make music today.

Producing for Mary J Blige, LL Cool J and Ice Cube as well as scoring and contributing to many iconic films such as Spike Lee’s “Do The Right Thing” and Ridley Scott’s “American Gangster” 

In this interview we get into the thought process behind the creation of many projects from the producer context to the live performance context and behind, touching on the future of AI in music.
